01 – Labubu’s Story Begins

Labubu was created in 2015 by an illustrator named Kasing Lung. She comes from a story series called The Monsters, which was inspired by old Nordic myths. The story features fun characters like Zimomo, Tycoco, Spooky, Pato, and of course, Labubu. Out of all of them, Labubu became the most popular—especially after BLACKPINK’s Lisa was seen using Labubu charms on her bags!

02 – What Is Labubu?

So, what is Labubu exactly? Labubu is a cute elf character, and in the original storybooks, she’s actually a girl. She has pointy ears, nine sharp teeth, and no tail. Labubu always has a funny and playful look on her face. Over the years, she has been made in over 300 different colours, shapes, and sizes, making her a favourite for collectors!

03 – Labubu Teams Up with Pop Mart

In 2019, Kasing Lung made a special deal with a toy company called Pop Mart. Pop Mart is famous for making collectible toys that come in blind boxes—which means you won’t know which toy you get until you open it. This surprise element makes collecting even more fun and exciting!

04 – Labubu Plush Charms You Can Collect

Now, let’s talk about the popular Labubu plush charms that many people love to hang on their bags. There are two main versions you can collect. The first one is called The Monsters – Tasty Macarons Vinyl Face Blind Box, also known as Version One (V1).

05 – What V1 Labubu Charms Look Like

The V1 Labubu charms were first released in October 2023. These plush toys come in a standing position, and you can move their heads, arms, and feet. They are about 8 cm wide, 17 cm tall, and 7 cm deep. Each one also has a gold ring clasp, so you can easily clip it onto your bag or keys.

06 – Fun Surprises Inside Each Box

These cute and fluffy Labubu charms are sold in blind boxes, so you won’t know which one you’re getting until you open it. Each one has a dessert-inspired name that matches its colour, like Soymilk, Lychee Berry, Green Grape, Sea Salt Coconut, Toffee, and Sesame Bean. These are the regular versions, and you have a 1 in 6 chance of getting one.

But there’s also a super rare version called Chestnut Cocoa, which has a red nose. It’s harder to find, with only a 1 in 72 chance of getting it!

07 – Version Two: Have A Seat Labubu

The second version, called The Monsters – Have A Seat Vinyl Plush Blind Box or V2, came out in July 2024. These Labubu charms are different because they come in a sitting position. They are a bit bigger, measuring about 15 cm long, 8 cm wide, and 7 cm deep.

08 – What Makes V2 Labubu Different

Like the first version, the heads, arms, and feet of these Labubu charms can move. But there are some differences:

• They are made with a softer and furrier material.

• The ring clasps and tags now match the colour of each doll.

• They come with three different facial expressions: eyes open, blinking, or eyes closed.
  

09 – More Surprises in V2 Blind Boxes

These Labubu charms also come in blind boxes, so you don’t know which one you’ll get. There are six regular versions:

• SiSi (yellow)

• HeHe (grey)

• BaBa (light brown)

• ZiZi (purple)

• QuWu (green)

• DaDa (pink)

There is also a secret version called DuoDuo. She is brown, has a red nose, and a special sparkle in her eyes.
